   What a pack of mindless assholes. They just ruined (bisected) a fairly nice looking beach, making it now impossible to traverse. And for what? So they could be overaged kiddies playing on their boards.
   Kind of a small representation of the mindlessness of the human race, and the idiocy we so shortsightedly stoop to for the gratificatying of our immediate whims, in microcosm.

   calm down. all rivers go to the sea.. wouldve happened eventually, just like it will silt up again so people can mindlessly enjoy a walk along the beach.

   Wow. For someone who likes to sound smart you sure sound like an idiot. If you knew anything about beaches and sand you would know that it will be ready for you to “traverse” in the very near future. The tides will repair all the “damage” these “mindless assholes” did and you won’t even be able to tell it was there. Maybe you need to get some perspective. Who’s the mindless asshole? someone who just walks up and down a beach or someone who can turn the elements into something exciting and time consuming? If you have a problem walk on another beach. Or better still, don’t come to Hawaii. But don’t try to judge others based off of your idiocy. That is all.

   Jister – so tides plug up rivers, eh? Is this a very widespread phenomena ? How does the world’s rivers manage to keep on flowing ?

   if there is not enough flow out of the mouth of the river, tides will eventually fill the mouth with sand. and yes. this is a worldwide phneomena.

   the worlds rivers manage to keep flowing if there is enough water.

   Its quite true that tides plug up river mouths if there is insufficient flow to keep them open. In Australia, if not for constant dredging since 2002, the Murray Rivers mouth, wouldve closed long ago.

   recent rains have allowed for the dredging to be stopped, as the river has once again resumed flowing.

   so in answer to your questions, yes, tides plug up rivers. yes it is a world wide phenomena and water, is what keeps rivers flowing.
